Dear neighbors, Sadly, on Friday, May 25, 2012, our friend and neighbor, Edward J. Maloney, passed away. You might know Ed better as the owner of his dog (and buddy) Bruno.
After months of health issues, various surgeries, and rehab in McGaw Care Center in Evanston, Ed was admitted (twice) to NorthShore Hospital in Evanston. With each transfer in and out of the hospital, his condition worsened, and, earlier this week, Ed was moved to the hospice/palliative care unit, where he died.
Until almost the very end, Ed was kind and easy going as always. Despite his worsening health and circumstances, he did not complain and liked to joke with his care givers.
He had worked for Wieboldt’s department store for more than 40 years. Since the death of his wife, Catherine, in 1996, Ed did everything by himself, and often hesitated to ask for any help. We will miss Ed walking with Bruno in the neighborhood on their way to/from the store, the bank, etc.
The wake will be from 6 to 9PM on Tuesday May 29 in Barr’s funeral home, 6222 N Broadway, Chicago, IL 60660.
The funeral mass is scheduled for 10AM on Wednesday, May 30 in Saint Ita‘s church on 1220 W Catalpa (~5500 Broadway), Chicago, IL 60640.
Internment will follow at All Saints Cemetery at 700 N River Rd, in Des Plaines, IL 60016.
