Long-time BARGE resident Jerry Stern

A long-time Edgewater resident Jerry Stern, passed away on Tuesday June 26. Jerry, with his signature handlebar mustache, was a man with style who loved to laugh, tell jokes and entertain neighborhood tots with his stock magic tricks. He was born and raised in our neighborhood and had a deep love for Chicago, his Victorian home, which he furnished in grand style. He was a great athelete and a person who would jump at the chance of helping out a neighbor, friend, or even a stranger. We will miss him. Thanks for all the great years!

Meeting tonight at Senn High School to discuss expansion of IB program

On Thursday, June 14th at 6:30pm at Senn High School, Susan Lofton, Senn's principal, will talk with the community about the plans for the expansion of the International Baccalaureate (IB) program at Senn and answer any questions people have. Andersonville's Midsommarfest this weekend

Midsommarfest is Andersonville's annual summer street festival, now entering its 47th year. Each year, nearly 50,000 people throng Clark Street from Foster to Catalpa for two days of music, dancing, kids' entertainment, and delicious food. Vendors from around the region sell their wares to passers-by, while ethnic dance troupes and cutting-edge bands keep the party going.

BARGE (Broadway Ardmore Ridge Glenwood Early) is a neighborhood block club organization actively involved in improving the quality of life in the local Edgewater community as well as around the city of Chicago. BARGE works with the 48th Ward Alderman on a wide range of issues including zoning, planning and transportation.
